“Darky” Teen Bullied for Her Skin Tone—Now She’s a Model and Has Something to Say to Other Victims

Khoudia Diop is a 19-year-old model from the West African country of Senegal.

She’s making waves across the internet for her incredibly dark colored skin, which she spent years being bullied for.

“I was teased a lot growing up, because of my skin tone.”

The stunning model was labeled ‘darky’ and ‘daughter of the night’ by racist bullies.

“And now even online sometimes, people will make comments. Growing up, I faced it by confronting the bullies. As I grew, I learned to love myself more every day, and not pay attention to the negative people.”

Khoudia started modeling when she was 17 years old and currently lives in Paris, where she pursues modeling full-time. Since she began to embrace her uniquely gorgeous skin tone, Khoudia has racked up more than 235k followers on Instagram in just a month since opening an account.

“The message I have for my sisters is that how you look doesn’t matter, as long as you feel beautiful inside,” Khoudia explains. She hopes to inspire others to embrace their differences, saying, “If you’re lucky enough to be different, don’t ever change.”
