You Are Not Enough

We’re always trying to be “enough” for everyone else….but when will Jesus be ENOUGH for us?

Not going to lie, this post was inspired by one of my favorite worship songs, “Enough” by Chris Tomlin.

Because from what I see, it seems to be continually coming back to be being enough.

Being worthy, being deserving, being good ENOUGH.

This is where your insecurity comes from. This is the small window where Satan comes and convinces you that you are not enough. Enough for what, you ask?

Anything and everything.

In your life you are going to have people tell you what you can’t do, what you shouldn’t do, who you are and what you deserve. At the base of this is the idea that you are not enough.

2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.”

You might not be enough, so what are you gonna do about it? Probably let it defeat you. That’s what we do right? Take your value at its face and move on because it’s easier.

Romans 3:23-24 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH and that’s the point. We are all sinners continually falling short. But you know who picks us? Jesus. Every time without questions asked. Without standards or judgments. He picked you; He loves you, and He DIED for you, because you are enough for Him.

So what do we do for the man who suffered death in our place? We question him, we walk away from him and we take his grace for granted.

Grace is a free gift, given to those who don’t deserve it. By definition, we are not good enough for his grace, but he gives it to us freely.

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

So really the question is: When is He going to be enough for you?

YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN ENOUGH FOR JESUS, WHEN IS HE GOING TO BE ENOUGH FOR YOU?

When is He going to become your priority, your passion, the place you go with your fears and worries?

We sit and contemplate why were not good enough, why we cant be accepted. We put all this energy into analyzing who we are just to be accepted. When the whole time the one who gave His life for us is sitting right there, probably wondering why you didn’t come to him first. Why He’s not enough for us to choose first, when He so clearly has chosen us without question.

Let me tell you what happens when you choose Jesus, when He’s enough for you. You don’t wait to be told you’re enough. You don’t search for approval from people of this world to tell you that you matter, because you believe with all your heart that you do, and after a while its not an idea anymore it’s a fact. That you are good enough, simply because you found your truth in Jesus.

The song lyrics that inspired this post are the perfect example of this:

All of You is more than enough for all of me

For every thirst and every need

You satisfy me with Your love

And all I have in You is more than enough

You are my supply

My breath of life

And still more awesome than I know

You are my reward

worth living for

And still more awesome than I know

You’re my sacrifice

Of greatest price

And still more awesome than I know

You’re the coming King

You are everything

And still more awesome than I know

More than all I want

More than all I need

You are more than enough for me

More than all I know

More than all I can say

You are more than enough for me

And that’s the point; we’re not good enough, but he chooses us anyway. His love is more than we need and it’s more awesome than we will ever know. So have a little confidence in the fact that you are enough because you are fueled, loved and created by the one is more than enough.

Let Jesus be enough for you.
