Serena Williams Responds to Haters With This Powerful Speech—“I Love My Body”

She’s an Olympian, a Champion and a Woman, and Serena Williams has a powerful message to women everywhere.

She’s best known for her insane tennis talent, her victories at both Wimbledon and the Olympics, and unfortunately—her body. Whether it’s a competitor on the tennis court, or a bully criticizing her body on the Internet, Serena Williams is always up for the challenge.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion recently spoke about being a woman with both an athletic body and a job that places her under public scrutiny. She’s muscular and athletic, no doubt, but some feel the need to shame her features, rather than embrace them.

Her take on critics and the way she loves her figure is refreshingly real.

As a role model, Williams knows that the way she talks about her own body affects young girls everywhere. She says, “I’m going to influence a girl who looks like me, and I want her to feel good about herself.”

Throughout her career, Williams has made it perfectly clear that her own sense of self-worth and self-love takes priority over the comments of critics. “I love my body, and I would never change anything about it,” Williams says. “I’m not asking you to like my body. I’m just asking you to let me be me.”

Williams has openly addressed the body-shaming that she’s had to face and overcome throughout her career, emphasizing how important internal acceptance is when seeking external success.

“I’ve been like this my whole life, and I embrace me and I love how I look. I love that I am a full woman, and I’m strong and I’m powerful and I’m beautiful at the same time. And there’s nothing wrong with that.”

She totally owns her appearance, and has always taken a stand for body positivity. She’s a stellar role model for girls and women alike!
